Did you know that the EB5 visa decreased from $ 900,000 to $ 500,000 and this allows eligible investors to become Permanent Residents of the United States?
Yes! Just as you are reading it. By making an investment under this type of EB5 visa, you can obtain your Residency and live legally in the United States.
WHAT IS THE EB5 PROGRAM?
The EB5 program was created in 1990 by the United States Congress to stimulate the US economy through job creation and investment from foreigners.
To be eligible for the EB5 visa: one of the important requirements is that the investor must invest the required amount of capital in a new business creating at least 10 qualified jobs.
HOW MUCH MUST BE INVESTED TO OBTAIN A PERMANENT RESIDENCE THROUGH EB5?
In 2019, the capital to be invested had increased from $ 1,000,000 to $ 1,800,000. And from $ 500,000 to $ 900,000 if the investment was made in a rural area or in an area with a high unemployment rate.
The good news is that an adjustment has just been made to the amount of capital required by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for this specific type of visa.
Last month, a federal judge annulled the EB5 “modernization” regulation of 2019. This means that the capital to invest for an EB5 visa decreased from $ 900,000 to $ 500,000, and from $ 1,800,000 to $ 1,000,000, respectively.
YES, you read that right! The EB5 visa decreased from $ 900,000 to $ 500,000, it decreased almost to half of the amount!
Investors must show evidence that they have already invested or are actively investing in a for-profit commercial enterprise. Plus, they must invest at least the minimum amounts of capital required by this Visa.
Since January 2021, USCIS has approved 673 new regional centers for EB5 across the United States.
Of the 673 approved regional centers, 65 belong to the state of Florida.
